Meet Our Team
Joe McDermott
Joe started his career in landscaping at the age of 16 working at a garden center while in high school in Nashville, TN. Joe graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design in 1995. He managed a mulch distribution business in Nashville before moving to South Carolina in 2002. He started as an assistant manager for Skinner Nurseries in Hardeeville in 2003 and rose to manager and then vice president of operations by the end of his tenure in 2010. He has been co-owner of Green Goods Wholesale Nursery since 2010.
Kathy Boerner
Kathy has been involved in the local landscape industry for more than 30 years and has been a Certified South Carolina Nursery Professional since 1993. She started her career working for a nationally recognized landscape company on Hilton Head Island. After 11 years working in their retail division and managing a local garden center, Kathy left the retail landscape industry to manage an 11-acre oceanfront property for a AAA 4 Diamond rated resort on Hilton Head Island. Kathy’s career evolved into green goods distribution with Skinner Nurseries in 2003. She has been co-owner of Green Goods Wholesale Nursery since 2010.
Spencer
Operations Manager
Spencer moved to the Lowcountry from Dayton, Ohio in 2018, and attended the University of South Carolina, Beaufort. After 4 years of working in the golf industry as a Golf Professional at several renowned private clubs, he made the transition into the green industry in 2023. He has been a member of the team since 2023.
Cheryl
Lead Sales Representative
Cheryl joined Green Goods in the Spring of 2018. Cheryl and her family owned and operated a nursery in California before she made the move to the Lowcountry. Her love of plants and people have kept her passionate about customer service and the green industry. Cheryl is an integral member of the team who helps instill the Green Goods culture and provide a top-tier customer service experience.
Seth
Buyer
Seth moved to the Lowcountry in 2018 from New Hampshire to escape the cold and to pursue a career in the golf industry. After working at several local private clubs, he made the move into the Green Industry. Seth is now in charge of all purchasing and procurement for Green Goods. He has been a member of the team since 2023.
Sydni
Sales Representative
Sydni moved to the Lowcountry from Michigan in 2010. Since moving to a warmer climate, her passion for plants and gardening has flourished. She has been a member of the Green Goods team since 2023 and has made an immediate impact on the Green Goods family and the customer experience.
Ike
Yard Manager
Ike is our most tenured employee, outside of the ownership, starting in 2011. He took a short break from Green Goods to start his own company and, after a successful run, made his return to Green Goods. Through his hard work and commitment to Green Goods, he has worked his way up from Nursery Assistant to Yard Manager. Ike makes a noticeable impact on the team and our customers daily.
